Currently experiencing a surge of popularity among consumers in the UK, dermal fillers are a cost-effective alternative to surgical cosmetic procedures and could provide patients with an increase in confidence as a result of their smooth facial complexion.
A dermal filler, or as it’s sometimes called, wrinkle filler, is a substance that is injected beneath lines in the skin, around the mouth, for example, between the nose and lips or into deep vertical lower forehead lines.
The results are a natural, more youthful look, with softer facial contours and a healthier appearance. The newest and safest dermal filler is Hyaluronic Acid (H.A). It is injected not only to fill lines (e.g. Laughter lines and Marionette lines) but to also voluminous and to re-establish the youthful contour of the skin.
How long does a skin filler treatment take?
Skin filler injections are made using a pre-filled syringe equipped with a very fine needle. A single treatment usually takes around 15-30 minutes but we allow an hour because we like to ensure we incorporate pain relief in to a treatment. Our use of local anesthetic is often used to try and eliminate as much discomfort around sensitive areas as possible.
The use of pain relief is unusual in the industry as it takes more treatment time, but we suspect those that don’t use pain relief have never had the treatment themselves.
Over time, fillers slowly break down and are naturally reabsorbed by your body; therefore, your practitioner may recommend top-up treatments two or three times a year to maintain a perfect filler correction.
